Five months.
Somehow my little potato has transformed into an actual tiny person with opinions, an impressive set of lungs, and a very strict policy against me having free time.
It’s funny because I think I’ve reached peak motivation
Seriously
My brain has become a factory of ideas. I want to stream. I want to draw. I want to make videos (I know, right?). I want to redesign things that absolutely didn’t need redesigning. I have enough project ideas to keep me busy until retirement
There’s just one tiny problem.
Motivation, as it turns out, does not spawn additional hours in the day.
Whoever designed that mechanic deserves a balance patch.
If anything, I have less time now than I’ve ever had before. The moment inspiration strikes, it’s usually followed by one of three things:
- Baby is hungry.
- Baby is tired.
- Baby has decided that being held is a fundamental human right.
Occasionally all three at once, just to keep things interesting.
Sleep has also become… negotiable.
I used to think six hours was rough. That version of me was adorable.
Now I celebrate things like “I only woke up four times!” as if I’ve won the lottery. My memory has become a collection of side quests that I keep forgetting to complete, and I regularly walk into rooms with all the confidence in the world only to completely lose the plot halfway there.
Breastfeeding has been its own little raid boss. We’re getting through it together, but some days definitely require a few extra healing potions and a deep sigh before carrying on.
One thing I wasn’t prepared for, though, was just how much I’d miss talking to adults.
Don’t get me wrong—I absolutely love spending my days with this tiny human. His smiles make my heart melt on command.
But after several hours of enthusiastic conversations that mostly consist of “goo”, “gah”, and his new favourite: screeching like a Pterodactyl… having a normal conversation starts sounding like the ultimate luxury.
And then there’s streaming.
Oh, I miss it.
I miss chatting with all of you. I miss laughing over games. I miss celebrating ridiculous victories and collectively questioning my life choices after spectacular failures. I even miss pretending that “just one more run” won’t somehow turn into four hours.
The desire to come back hasn’t faded at all.
If anything, it’s stronger than ever.
It’s just that every time I think, “Right! Tonight’s the night!” my tiny manager calls an emergency meeting that apparently can’t be postponed. His management style is questionable, his communication consists mainly of squeaks, and his payment package includes cuddles and the occasional spit-up on my shoulder.
I suppose that’s a fair trade.
Life has definitely slowed down
Not because I want it to.
Not because I’ve lost the passion.
Quite the opposite.
I have more passion than ever—I just have far fewer uninterrupted hours to do anything with it.
So if you’ve been wondering where I’ve disappeared to, I’m still here.
Just moving at baby speed
One day I’ll be back online more consistently. The streams will return, the projects will finally leave the “ideas” folder, and I’ll probably wonder why I thought I was ever busy before.
Until then, I’m enjoying this wonderfully chaotic little chapter of life—powered by coffee, determination, approximately three brain cells, and one very smiley five-month-old who somehow makes every exhausting day completely worth it.
(Although I’d still happily accept a patch that adds 12 extra hours to every day just for sleep.)
Hello. I think it’s a fantastic way to share your “progress” in this new journey in your life. Things will take time to go back to normal and we will be waiting for you.
Thank you so much! I also think so, and it’s very easy to write my thoughts out on the phone while unable to move.
I love the way you paint baby parenting with words. It is hard, tedious and some part are even daunting during the first year but it also so precious and wonderful. You deserve to go in baby speed and you will thank him later for making sure you don’t miss any step of his development even though he doesn’t have the biggest vocabulary yet.
We all will be waiting for you and when you do have a couple of of hours we will show and we won’t judge. I really think I speak for all of us when I say that we are all so happy for you and at least me are on the other side of tiny humans. It gets easier but remember to enjoy the baby time, it doesn’t rewind ♥️
